About the Collector

Jian Yang

Collector of Chinese Art & Antiques

Jian Yang has spent a lifetime in the quiet company of Chinese art. What began as an early fascination with the glaze of a single blue-and-white bowl grew, over decades, into a considered private collection spanning porcelain, jade, bronze, painting, furniture, and textiles.

The collection is guided by a simple principle: each object should reward long looking. Pieces are chosen for the integrity of their making, the clarity of their period, and the story they carry — never for fashion alone. Provenance is researched carefully, and documentation is kept for every work.

Jian Yang divides time between study, travel, and correspondence with fellow collectors, curators, and scholars. Works are lent to exhibitions on occasion and, where noted, a small number are available to serious collectors.
